Search Engine |
A "search engine" is a
program located on the internet that can search for certain topics on the internet.
For instance, Yahoo is a search engine. Any
website where you have the ability to type something in and search the internet for it is
considered a search engine. |
"B.I.O.S." |
BIOS stands for "Basic Input Output
System". Sounds complicated, but all it does is gets all the devices inside the
computer working when you turn your computer on. It makes sure that everything is
there and that everything is working properly. |
"Byte" |
All files and
applications and programs on your computer are essentially made of programming code.
Some files have more programming code in them than others, so those files with more
code take up more space on your hard drive than the ones with less code. A byte is
the basic unit of measurement that computers use to calculate the size of files and
programs. Some prefixes that are often used are "mega" (million),
"giga" (billion), and "kilo" (thousand). |
