"Byte"
All files and applications and programs on your
computer are essentially made of programming code. Some files have more programming
code in them than others, so those files with more code take up more space on your hard
drive than the ones with less code. A byte is the basic unit of measurement that
computers use to calculate the size of files and programs. Some prefixes that are
often used are "mega" (million), "giga" (billion), and
"kilo" (thousand).
